myPVR v1 Bios Update Process

Note – Customers should only update their bios using an update image provided by OpenMedia. We take no responsibility for any bios releases that have not been validated by our support team.

Pre-Checks

Where possible please plug your myPVR unit into a standard computer monitor whilst performing the bios update as the TV-Out will be disabled during the process. You will also need to have a keyboard connected to perform the update, the wireless keyboard originally supplied with your myPVR will suffice.

OpenMedia will usually provide the bios update in the form of a CD image, or on request arrange for a CD to be delivered to you. You require no additional tools to update your machines as there is a relatively simple process to perform the patch.

Performing the update

  1. Whilst your myPVR unit is powered on insert the supplied CD into your myPVR DVD Drive.
  2. Using your remote control reboot your myPVR unit
    • Select Main Menu
    • myPVR
    • Reboot
  3. During the initial bios splash screen press the following key combination
    • Alt and F2
  4. You should see the following on-screen feedback
    • EZFlash starting BIOS update
    • Checking for floppy…
    • Floppy not found
    • Checking for CD-ROM
    • CD-ROM Found
    • Reading file “A8NVMCSM.ROM”. Completed
  5. If you are using a standard TV connection your screen should go blank for about a minute while your unit updates its bios.
  6. If you are using a computer monitor you will get progress information as your bios is updated.
  7. Your unit should now reboot with its display enabled, and prompt you for feedback
    • Select defaults

Post Update

Now that you have patched the bios on your myPVR make sure the unit boots correctly, unless you have received other instructions from OpenMedia. You will then notice that the fan noise is a little louder than usual. Once you are sure your system can boot we advise you to reboot and follow the guide on optimising the bios for your myPVR. This will result in re-enabling all of the advanced power management features of the unit.

If you are unsure of the process, or unhappy with these instructions, please don’t hesitate to contact OpenMedia Support.
