SkyTV NZ Configuration

SkyTV SupportThere are a number of Sky TV settings that can be configured via the myPVR Support Menu. You can enter the Sky TV support menu as follows-

  • Main Menu
    • myPVR ->
      • myPVR Support Tools ->
        • SkyTV Support

None of these options will work if SkyTV support hasn’t been installed

SkyTV Status

This reports on your current SkyTV set-up, which capture card it is mapped to, and if you are using a Composite or S-Video cable to connect to your SkyTV Set Top Box.

SkyTV Refresh

Refresh SkyTV Channels

This forces myPVR to update its active database of known SkyTV channels.

It also provides feedback on the optional channels that are being hidden from the EPG.

Select SkyTV Channels

SkyTV Refresh This starts a terminal window based application so that you can select which SkyTV channels myPVR will display. Based on your current SkyTV subscription you might want to disable selected groups of channels.

Note that this application does require the use of a keyboard.

To change your options press the number next to the set of channels to toggle a setting, e.g. press 0 to enable/disable Sky Movies. You will need to use the following additional keys

  • r – Refresh the display
  • s – Save settings and exit
  • q – Quit without saving

Once you have made and saved your selections you should choose the “Refresh SkyTV Channels” menu to update the myPVR database based on your options.

Note that on initial installation our default options are as follows.

Reconfigure IR Blaster

IR BlasterAn IR Blaster is used to control your Sky Set Top Box so that the correct channels can be selected with the myPVR remote control. At present myPVR cannot support MySky, but can support standard STB units from

  • Pace
  • Zenith
  • Motorola.

Selecting the menu option will start a terminal window as shown to the right, from which you can select your STB model. Customers with Motorola STB units should select the Sky_Zenith option.

Use up/down to highlight the correct option, and press the “Enter” key when you are finished.

Test IR Blaster

This option is designed to assist with IR Blaster positioning. Upon selection it will fire a long series of “0″ at your STB. You should notice the IR Blaster unit will flash. You will need to position the unit such that the normal IR receiver on your STB also flashes.

Select S-Video

This is the best quality video output we can currently capture from a SkyTV STB. We advise customers to use this output if their STB supports it. You will need to use an appropriate S-Video cable between your Sky STB and the Video Input on myPVR.

Select Composite

If your STB doesn’t support S-Video, or you don’t have an appropriate cable, you should enable the Composite input.

Note that this is the default input when you initially install SkyTV support as all STBs can support a Composite connection.
